In May, 2011, the first Dr. Victor VanGilse Scholarship was awarded. The scholarship is given in honor of the generosity of spirit which marked the career of Dr. Victor VanGilse and his commitment to the education of aspiring physicians. Vic’s friends and colleagues created the VanGilse scholarship fund to assist a student who has the potential to continue his legacy.
The recipient, Kevin Polacek of Anderson High School, plans to attend Vanderbilt University in the fall, majoring in biological science. The Foundation thanks all who have contributed to the scholarship for their support of this effort, an enduring tribute to Dr. VanGilse’s service as a physician and teacher and to his dedication to the mission of the Foundation.
